[englisch, 'əʊpn 'tjuːnɪȖs; wörtlich »offene Stimmungen«], in der Folkmusic verbreitete, aber auch in anderen Bereichen der populären Musik anzutreffende Stimmungsvarianten für Gitarre, Banjo u. a., abweichend von der Standardstimmung (z. B. bei Gitarren E A d g h e¹). Die »offenen Stimmungen« bewirken einen volleren Klang, erleichtern bestimmte Griffe und Effekte (Slideguitar). Die Saiten werden nach dem Dreiklang (= Tonika der jeweiligen Tonart) gestimmt, gebräuchlich sind z. B.

∙ Open C-Tuning = C G c g c¹ e¹

∙ Open E-Tuning = E H e gis h e¹

∙ Open G-Tuning = D G d g h d¹ oder G H d g h d¹.
